Loucks-Christenson Publishing was founded in 2005 by Lisa Loucks Christenson. Lisa's background spans over 25 years in publishing, media, and communications including: Advertising, sales, marketing, subscriptions, mailing lists, design, layout, photography, fulfillment, radio, and more. Loucks-Christenson Publishing is a traditional publisher with editorial offices in Rochester, Minnesota. We publish a variety of genres as children's books, YA, fiction, and non-fiction titles, with developed niches in: Action, adventure, family history, mystery, nature, outdoors, romance, thriller, and woman's fiction. We offer both Work-for-Hire contracts and traditional publishing contracts, both negotiated by your agent and our contracts department. We offer career-minded authors a life long writing career opportunity, but many of our authors write for other publishers, and some have moved on to started their own publishing firms. Many of our authors are offered multi-book contracts from concepts, plotted ideas, or finished novels , whether bought as an already completed series, or put into development with our editors we work with our authors through every step of the book process to produce a finished book that shines. We pay all costs of development of the book, including several rounds of editing, advances on novels of at least $1000.00 (one thousand dollars) per book, and Loucks-Christenson Publishing offers many unique promotional opportunities for our authors that are only available through our distinct marketing and our stores only. Some of these opportunities include: Featured interviews on Lisa's Walk the Talk Show, front page promotions on our sister sites (numerous), placement of titles in our new Cooks-Books Club™, as well as guaranteed placement on our store shelves in our White Wolf Creek™ store in Rochester, Minnesota. White Wolf Creek™ is conveniently located off HWY 52N, in our town of over 100,000 population, with over 10,000 worldwide transients passing through each week. All Loucks-Christenson books and imprints are printed and stocked in our warehouse. Our books are available as e-book, paperback, hard cover formats, and select titles will be recorded as audio books. Agents: Our contracts are individually negotiated between your agency and our publishing house. We welcome pitches by e-mail query only, with proposal, first three chapters or full manuscript attached, and a sales and marketing sheet letting us know what your author will bring to the table.
Invited Authors: Query with pitches, your background, your full manuscript if available, and your sales and marketing you will bring to us. In March 2012, we began accepting short stories, novella's from unagented authors, and authors we've met at our store, or pitch sessions. We are currently open to submission for polished short stories or novellas, and books for our series. See guidelines. We offer numerous promotional opportunities, and in store shelf presence to authors who meet our family friendly guidelines. We purchase and stock select titles for sale in our stores.
